Ron Paul - Great Candidate, Terrible Choice for President
Ron Paul has been adopted by the internet masses. Just look at the home page of Reddit or even worse, Digg. Go ahead and look, I’ll wait. How many stories about Ron Paul did you see? Paul has even set an online fundraising record, raising $4.2 million dollars in one day.
It’s not surprising that he’s turned a lot of heads, especially considering the Republican debates so far - while Rudy Guliani, Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson and company fought over who could bury their heads furthest in the sand, Paul showed actual knowledge of how the world works and why the U.S. was attacked.
Ron Paul is a great candidate. Without him, the most pithy statement about the war you would hear would be Guliani saying “9/11″ every 60 seconds. He’s also the only one trying to remind the conservative party that they are supposed to be financially conservative.
That said, it’s important to note that Ron Paul would make a terrible president.
Senator Larry Craig: I am not Gay the Musical
Senator Larry Craig from Idaho, who had plead guilty to disorderly conduct for coming on to a male police officer in an airport bathroom, says the whole thing is a huge misunderstanding. In fact, he went on national TV to proclaim (again and again) “I am not gay!”
I don’t know if he’s gay, but the musical he’s been cast in is fabulous:
Washington DC: Taxation Without Representation
One of the most shameful facts about the United States of America has been in the news lately. No, I’m not talking about the Iraq war, teen pregnancy, urban poverty, or even election fraud. I’m talking about the fact that U.S. citizens who live in Washington DC have no Senators and no Congressmen.
DC has more people than Wyoming, and almost as many as Vermont. So why are they treated like felons? The problem, at least right now, is that a majority of DC residents are black.
Now, this isn’t old school Jim Crow racism; the real issue is that blacks tend to vote overwhelmingly for the democrats. Giving DC the vote would be giving the Democrats two Senators and a member in the House.

Top 5 reasons the Mark Foley scandal is no big deal
1. No sex, no scandal. It’s not like he had actual physical sex with any of these pages, that we know of, at least so far. I mean, come on! Do the defeatocrats really want us to believe that just having lustful feelings in your heart is enough to bring shame on your whole party?
And even if it turns out he did rendezvous with some of these young men, we know for a fact that they didn’t have sex – they’re both male! Every highschooler knows it doesn’t count unless what your doing might make a baby.
2. Do the math. Mean spirited bloggers keep using loaded words like “teenagerâ€? and “boyâ€? to describe Foley’s Congressional page pen pals. Come on! These were 16- to 18-year-olds, old enough to drive and above the age of consent in many places. Todd has written on this very blog about this issue. Below you will find mathematical proof that if we’re going to play the “age game,â€? the pages were taking advantage of Foley.
Bush thinks you are stupid - 9-11 and the Iraq War
Monday marks 5 years since the 9/11 attacks.
This not a particularly political site. I’ll let others hash out the differences between liberals and conservatives. But I will say that the current administration apparently thinks I, and the rest of America, are idiots. President Bush thinks we are stupid, and afraid, and they think they can sway us with ridiculous, illogical arguments.
At a press briefing on September 8th, Press Secretary Tony Snow said the following:
“But, more importantly — if we have people who want to re-litigate that, that’s fine, but the President’s stated concern this week, as you’ve seen, is to think, okay, we’ll let people quibble over three years ago; the important thing to do is to figure out what you’re doing tomorrow, and the day after, and the month after, and the year after to make sure that this war on terror is won.”
