Best of Cleveland Haunted Houses 2008, Legend of Scarecreek

I’m writing the haunted house review this week. We went to the Legend of Scare Creek in Canton. If you haven’t been there before I can give you simple directions go to the middle of BFE and then turn left and go another mile. Seriously the drive up there takes forever and once you get there the drive way also takes forever.

The first thing you will notice is that its freakin’ dark in the parking lot. There’s like one light and that’s it. If you follow the crowds of people up the hill eventually you’ll arrive at the ticket booth. The have pizza, candy and hot apple cider in case your also hungry. The ticket says that there are five haunted houses for you to go to. Trying to visit them in order is problematic though.

Best of Cleveland Haunted Houses 2008, Stalker Corn Maze

A little introduction for this one before I start into the review: We were originally going to go to both the Stalker Haunted Corn Maze and the Trail of Terror which are both haunted houses just south of Canton on the same highway exit #193 for Bolivar/Zoar.  I know, really cool town names.  Anyway when we got to the Trail of Terror’s parking lot (you take a bus over to the acutal event) the parking lot was barren.  I was confused because I had just checked their website for prices.  Eventually we found a guy in the McDonald’s parking lot and he told us that there was flooding and it had ruined the trail and they didn’t have the funds to fix it. He also assured us that this info was on their website.  Please click on the link above and tell me if you see it because I couldn’t find it.  Anyway, this was very sad for us because this is one of the best houses we had been to last year.

Stalker Haunted Corn Maze

We went to the Stalker Corn Maze two years ago as well so I will spend some time talking about the improvements they have done since then as well as an overall review. (more…)

Alouette’s Review:

House 1: House of the Dead

Rating for House of the Dead:

The following paragraph contains descriptions which may be seen as spoilers!

House of the Dead was pretty good.  This house was too short, though.  This house use a lot of image projecting equipment to enhance long lonely hallways (in which they have few or no actors, possibly to cut costs or something?).  The effect is cool but not scary, though it does add a nice touch to the atmosphere of the place.  The definite highlight of this house is what I referred to as “the birthing canal” for lack of a better term.  Basically it’s a black tunnel that is made in a similar manner to the Halloween inflatables in peoples yards. It’s all black and completely engulfs you, it makes you feel like you are stuck in it and you have no idea how long the tunnel is.  Also, it feels like there are people pushing on both sides of it (not sure if there are people or if it’s just from your party going through which seems more likely), pushing you around from side to side.  It is very intense, I really didn’t expect something like that at all.  My second most memorable moment was the Voodoo room where vines above you actually rain down on you as you walk through.  It also has a giant animatronic monkey skeleton which is pretty cool.

It’s Almost Time For Haunted Houses in Cleveland!

Sorry, I know that we don’t update this very often but over the Haunted House season I am planning on updating as much as I can with haunted house reviews for the local Cleveland Ohio area.  I am hoping that people will post their own feelings on the houses I review and maybe make comments about any phenomenal ones that I am missing.  I just feel there is a lack of good reviews for the houses in the Cleveland area.

Here’s the tentative list of the houses that I am planning on visiting this year.  Of course things are likely to change, so don’t hold me to this.  I haven’t created a grading scale yet but when I do I’ll post it up here and ask for your comments.

Price of Ohio Prostitute = 1 Pizza

Apparently here in Ohio prostitutes come cheap. Apparently about the cost of one Donato’s Pizza. The full story, which is brief in case you were worried, is basically a judge asked a “prostitute” (I put it in quotations because she is only an suspected prosty) to name her pimp. The prostitute denied the request, as you would assume. Then the judge had the little light bulb appear above her head and offered the young supposed sex worker a pizza in exchange for the offer.

I can only imagine that the conversation went like this:

Judge:  So, please name your pimp for the court.

Sex Worker:  Um…..I don’t have one?  Or I mean…Um?

Judge:  If you name your pimp the court will go easier on your sentence, I assure you.  You will be      protected against an repercussions that might occur.

Sex Worker: I’d rather not, thank you.  I just don’t think it’s right.

Judge: So, nothing will make you talk?  Even if it means reducing your own punishment?

Sex Worker: No, I don’t think so.

Judge: Hmmm………………… What about a free pizza?

Sex Worker: A free pizza?   Well…..That might work.  I do like pizza.

Judge: I know, who doesn’t like pizza.  So what do you think?  I’m thinking Pizza Hut?

Sex Worker: No, I don’t like their sauce.  What’s close to here?

Court Officer: I think there is a Donato’s close by.

Sex Worker: I love Donatos!  Extra pepperoni and mushrooms please and you have a deal!

Or something like that.

The judge bought the pizza and the sex worker ate it in the courthouse then sang like a canary. Just goes to show it doesn’t always have to be hard to get information out of suspects or witnesses. It just takes a free pizza.

Can’t Touch Strippers with a 10 Foot Poll

The saga of the great Stripper debate continues. The bill is currently under review by the house due to several questions of constitutional legality and whether or not the language of the document actually makes sense or is just plain ridiculous. There is also question about the CCV and whether or not they told the truth about similar legislation in other states and legality of the bill. Recently on their site to bolster their failing support they published a poll that they had done saying how the majority of Ohioans support the bill. Of course if you look closer you will notice several fishy things about this poll, and realize that it is just another attempt by the CCV to propagate their own cause that the majority of the public does not support.

First They Came for My Strippers, and I Said Nothing

Recently Bill SB 16 passed in the Ohio Senate and will be sent to the house for a vote next. The bill call prohibits all dancers working in strip clubs from “touching any patrons and they must remain at least six feet away from them. It also calls for all strip clubs to close at 11:00 pm. This legislation will not surprisingly shut down most if not all strip clubs in Ohio.
