Kid Nation Controversy
A new reality show on CBS this fall will feature forty children running their own ghost town. Does this Lord of the Flies rendition sound like an actual quality reality show? I think so. Here is the trailer for the new show this fall.
But, according to the parents of the children sent off (to win thousands of dollars these parents signed the rights to send their children on a six week survivor trip) to live in this western ghost town in the middle of the desert, things did not turn out so well. Actually, the controversy over this show isn’t that we let kids live without parents for six weeks, which is what I was thinking was kind of irresponsible, but that these kids were caught violating minor labor laws. Hold on, let me say this again. The big upset over this show is that kids are violating child labor laws. I’m pretty sure that no one is making these kids do all this work, so wouldn’t they be exempt? I don’t know exactly but you should watch the video below, ABC’s news report trying to get CBS’s new fall line up to bomb so that ABC’s quality entertainment will rule supreme. Or something.
