Top 10 Innovative Music Videos
Following up on the previous post on music videos here is my top 10 list of the most innovative music videos.
10. Tool - Sober
Set the standard for creepy stop motion animation.
9. Primus - Mr. Krinckle
Yes the video was shot in one take, they had to pay the guy who lit himself on fire each time so they had no choice.
8. Soundgarden - Black Hole Sun
One of the first music videos to make use of digital effects in a non stupid way.
7. Bjork - All is Full of Love
Cool use of computer effects to create lesbian Bjork robots.
6. Weezer - Buddy Holly
Simple editing techniques used to put the band Weezer in an episode of Happy Days, also featuring the original Al.
5. White Stripes - Fell in Love with a Girl
A brilliant video that showed you can use Legos for animation.
4. Dire Straits - Money for Nothing
The original computer generated video. My cell phone has more processing power than the computer used to make this video.
3. Prodigy - Smack my Bitch Up
Awesome video that was eventually banned for its gratuitous use of nudity, violence and drug use.
2. A-ha - Take on Me
One of the original videos to use animation plus the songs damn catchy.
1. Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer
Still one of the most visually impressive videos, even more impressive that it was done totally without the use of computers.

I do agree that these are some cool videos but I still like the dice one too. And I was wondering why you don’ t have that one nine inch nails video up here from broken (or closer, that one is cool too), i think. With the guy and the surgery and stuff? That seems like it should be on your list of videos. I can’t seem to find it anywhere though, we have it on VHS. And your third video doesn’t work.

I was surprised to see that not a single video from Fatboy Slim made this list…between Right Here Right Now and The Joker and Weapon of Choice, as well as several others, I think there have been several innovative ones from that one artist…

Fatboy slim is the man. Too bad he never visited George W Bush in the White House. That would of been a jamin time. Now when Clinton was president you would see all types of artists at state function.
